Constructed near to scale, it is available in various formats. The Douglas DC-8, a rival of the 707 series, was developed concurrently and shared similar design and capabilities. First flying in 1957, these aircraft had an impressive safety record, serving main airline routes until the late '70s. Many were later converted for freight use, with some still operational 50 years after their initial development.
