The fully-textured model features animatable turbines, flaps, ailerons, rudder, elevators, and landing gear (with hideable landing gear). It is constructed near to scale and available in various formats. The Douglas DC-8, a rival of the 707 series, shared similar design and capabilities; it first flew in 1957. Popular with airlines, it had an excellent safety record on main airline routes until the late '70s. Many were converted for freight use post-passenger service, with some still flying as freighters five decades after their initial development.
