The Douglas DC-8, a competitor to the Boeing 707 series, was developed simultaneously with similar design and capabilities. As one of the first jet airliners capable of intercontinental range and increased capacity, the DC-8 boasted an impressive history and popularity among airlines. Its maiden flight took place in 1957, showcasing good safety records that made it a mainstay on airline routes until late in the 1970s. The model features fully textured materials and animatable turbines, flaps, ailerons, rudder, elevators, and landing gear, with an option to hide the latter for 'gear up' flights. Available in various formats, it is built near-scale to the original aircraft.
