Originally serviced by Eastern and United in 1939, these aircraft were later repurposed for military use during WWII. Post-war, 79 DC-4s continued in commercial service alongside converted C-54s and R5Ds, carrying between 40 to 80 passengers with a cruising speed of 227 mph, range of 4250 miles, and a service ceiling of 22300 feet. Despite its complex maintenance requirements, DC-4s are still in operation today.
