cgtrader
This detailed medium to high polygon model portrays the DC-4 with fully textured, near-scale exteriors and several animatable features such as propellers, flaps, elevators, rudder, ailerons, landing gear, and doors. The model is available in multiple formats for immediate downloading. Produced pre-WWII by Eastern and United in 1939, the DC-4 faced maintenance complications and wasn't efficient for commercial service. Consequently, it was replaced with simpler, smaller aircraft post-Pearl Harbor, when its production was diverted to military use (resulting in 1100 C-54s and R5Ds). After WWII, 79 DC-4s were produced for airlines. Many C-54s and R5Ds reverted to commercial use, carrying 40-80 passengers at a cruising speed of 227 mph, with a range of 4250 miles and service ceiling of 22300 feet. Remarkably, DC-4s still operate today in 2014.
