The Douglas C-47 Skytrain, famously known as Goonybird, Skytrooper, and Dakota, was a variant of the Civilian Douglas DC-3. Extensively utilized by the Allies during WWII, it played vital roles in transporting cargo, personnel, paratroopers, towing gliders, and performing logistical tasks. With capacity for 28 troops or equivalent payload, the aircraft featured a crew of four including pilot, co-pilot, navigator, radio operator, and often a cargo master. Powered by Pratt & Whitney R1830-901C Twin Wasp engines with 3-bladed variable pitch propellers, it boasted retractable landing gear for operation on rough terrains. Used by every Allied service in WWII, these aircraft continue to serve in military and civilian operations worldwide. A recent turboprop conversion has further extended their lifespan. This meticulously detailed near-scale model highlights engine complexity, features animateable propellers, landing gear, ailerons, flaps, elevators, and rudder, and comes with preloaded textures and materials in multiple download formats.
