The Douglas C-47 Skytrain, alternatively known as the Goonybird, Skytrooper, and Dakota, originated from the Civilian Douglas DC-3. During World War II, it played a vital role for the Allies in transporting cargo, personnel, paratroopers, towing gliders, and performing logistical tasks. The aircraft was equipped with Pratt and Whitney R1830-901C Twin Wasp 14-cylinder radial engines that powered 3-bladed variable pitch propellers. Its retractable landing gear allowed it to operate efficiently on rough terrains, which contributed to its widespread usage by every allied service throughout the war. Even today, the Skytrain continues to serve in various military and civilian operations globally, with recent turboprop conversions extending its operational lifespan further. This detailed, near-scale model features animateable propellers, landing gear, ailerons, flaps, elevators, and rudder, and is available for immediate downloading in multiple formats.
