The Douglas C-47 Skytrain, recognized by nicknames Goonybird and Skytrooper, is a military version of the DC-3 aircraft. During WWII, it played a crucial role ferrying troops, cargo, and towing gliders for Allied forces. The plane could carry 28 troops or equivalent payload, operated by five crew members. Powered by Pratt & Whitney R1830 engines with variable pitch propellers, its retractable landing gear allowed operation from rough fields. After WWII, Skytrains continued in military and civilian duties worldwide; recently, turboprop conversions extended their lifespan further. This model is nearly scale-sized, detailed particularly in the engines, with animateable parts including propellers, landing gear, and flight controls. The downloadable model comes ready with textures and materials as demonstrated.
