The Douglas C-47 Skytrain, famously known as Goonybird, Skytrooper, and Dakota, was a military adaptation of the Civilian DC-3. Widely utilized by Allied forces during World War II, this versatile aircraft transported cargo and personnel worldwide while also serving logistical and utility purposes. Equipped with Pratt and Whitney R1830-901C Twin Wasp engines, it could carry up to 28 troops or a vast amount of cargo, aided by its retractable landing gear designed for rough field operations. After WWII, these aircraft continued serving in various military and civilian capacities, with recent turboprop conversions prolonging their lifespan. A highly detailed near-scale model is available, featuring animateable parts like propellers, landing gear, ailerons, flaps, elevators, and rudder, accompanied by textures reflecting rivet patterns across the surface. This model is accessible in multiple formats for immediate downloading.
