The Douglas C-47 Skytrain, famously known as Goonybird, Skytrooper, and Dakota, was a war workhorse derived from the Civilian Douglas DC-3. Extensively utilized by Allies during WWII, it transported cargo and personnel worldwide, paratroopers, towed gliders, and undertook logistical duties. The aircraft boasted a capacity of 28 troops alongside a pilot, co-pilot, navigator, radio operator, and a cargo master in many operations. Powered by Pratt and Whitney R1830-901C Twin Wasp engines with 3-bladed variable pitch propellers, it featured retractable landing gear, allowing operation from rough fields. Every allied service employed these aircraft during WWII; they still serve in military and civilian roles today. A turboprop conversion prolongs their lifespan. This model, built near scale, exhibits intricate detailing, including engine parts. Animated features encompass propellers, landing gear, ailerons, flaps, elevators, and rudder. The model is textured with rivet patterns throughout and available in multiple formats for immediate download.
