The Douglas C-47 Skytrain, also recognized as Goonybird, Skytrooper, and Dakota, was developed from the Civilian Douglas DC-3. During WWII, it played a crucial role as an Allied cargo and personnel carrier worldwide, performing tasks like paratroop drops, glider towing, and logistical duties. The aircraft could accommodate 28 troops or cargo, along with a pilot, copilot, navigator, radio operator, and cargo master. Powered by Pratt & Whitney R1830-901C Twin Wasp engines, it featured retractable landing gear for rough field operation. Post-WWII, Skytrains served in numerous military and civilian capacities; recent turboprop conversions have extended their lifespan. This model, built to scale with high detail, especially in the engines, features animateable propellers, landing gear, ailerons, flaps, elevators, and rudder. It comes textured, including rivet patterns, in multiple formats for easy download.
