The Douglas C-47 Skytrain, famously recognized as Goonybird, Skytrooper, and Dakota, was derived from the Civilian DC-3. During World War II, it played a significant role by transporting cargo and personnel worldwide, deploying paratroopers, towing gliders, and accomplishing logistical tasks. The aircraft could carry up to 28 troops alongside a pilot, co-pilot, navigator, radio operator, and a cargo master in certain operations. Powered by Pratt and Whitney R1830-901C Twin Wasp engines, it featured three-bladed variable pitch propellers and retractable landing gear for operation on rough terrains. These versatile aircraft were employed by every allied service during WWII and continue serving in military and civilian roles globally today. A recent turboprop conversion has extended their lifespan further. The model boasts near-scale accuracy, detailed texturing including rivet patterns, animatable propellers, landing gear, ailerons, flaps, elevators, and rudder. It arrives with provided textures and materials in various formats for easy downloading.
