The Douglas C-47 Skytrain, alternatively known as Goonybird, Skytrooper, or Dakota, was a variant of the Civilian DC-3. Widely used by Allied forces during World War II, this versatile aircraft carried cargo and personnel worldwide, as well as transporting paratroopers, towing gliders, and performing logistical duties. Its crew consisted of up to 28 troops, a pilot, co-pilot, navigator, radio operator, and a cargo master. Powered by Pratt & Whitney R1830-901C Twin Wasp engines with three-bladed variable pitch propellers, this retractable landing gear aircraft was capable of operating from rough fields. Employed by every allied service during WWII, the Skytrain still serves in military and civilian operations today. Recent turboprop conversions have extended its lifespan further. This model is constructed near to scale, featuring detailed textures and animatable features like propellers, landing gear, ailerons, flaps, elevators, and rudder.
