Douglas B-66B/RB-66B/EB-66E Destroyer

The Douglas B-66 Destroyer was created by modifying the existing Douglas A-3 Skywarrior aircraft to meet specific USAF requirements. The Air Force's demands were so stringent that the B-66 ultimately shared few parts with its predecessor, making it a unique design. While the B-66 has never been used as a bomber in combat operations, its variants have seen action during the Vietnam War. The all-weather photo-reconnaissance variant RB-66 and the electronic reconnaissance and countermeasures variant EB-66 played key roles in these conflicts. Two of the most prominent B-66 variants are represented here: the RB-66B and the EB-66E. These models showcase the exterior similarities between the two, with the RB-66B bearing a striking resemblance to its bomber counterpart, the B-66B. To bring these miniature masterpieces to life, I opted for a 1:100 scale print using a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.12 mm layers on an Ender3 printer. The two-part design allowed me to minimize support requirements, making post-printing cleanup a breeze. A bit of sandpaper worked wonders in smoothing out the glued junctions, rendering them nearly invisible once painted. Image: Printed with PrusaSlicer 2.0
