Ideal for video animations and animation projects, these 2016 releases offer a wide range of applications from warbird displays to museum exhibits. The A-26B Invader, produced by Douglas in the early '40s, replaced both the A-20 bombers and Martin B-26. Designed as a low-level attack and bomber platform, this aircraft featured 14 machine guns or cannon combinations, an internal bomb bay, and impressive speed for its twin-engine radial power. Used extensively during WWII, A-26B models had hard noses housing a navigator/gun loader and eight machine guns for ground attack missions. The A-26C model boasted a clear nose with the navigator bombardier stationed inside. Equipped with machine guns in the wings, these aircraft were versatile in both staffing and strafing capabilities. Post-war, they continued to serve in the USAAF and USAF under the B-26 designation. During the Korean conflict, B-26B and C models saw active service, leading to major upgrades such as refined wings, increased horsepower, and external weapon stores for the A-26K model. The mid-1960s saw the A-26 and B-26 in combat once again during the Vietnam conflict. The A-26 and B-26 were sold to various nations for military use or converted into civil transports, firefighter water tankers, or museum warbirds. These versatile aircraft have made a lasting impact on aviation history.
