Released in 2016, these models are ideal for video animations and animations. The Douglas A-26B Invader was a crucial development by the Douglas company in the early 1940s to replace the A-20 bombers and Martin B-26. Designed as a low-level attack and bomber platform, the A-26 boasted 14 machine guns or combinations of machine guns and cannons, an internal bomb bay, and high speed. Produced in 1943, these aircraft saw extensive action during World War II. The A-26B models featured a 'hard nose' with a navigator/gun loader stationed in the forward cockpit, while pilot and gunner positions were at the rear. Eight machine guns were mounted in the nose for staffing, ground attack, and low to medium level bombing missions supporting ground troops. The A-26C model had a clear nose and a navigator bombardier stationed inside. Machine guns remained in the wings, with strafing capabilities added. After WWII, these aircraft continued in frontline service under the USAAF and, later, the USAF, redesignated as B-26s in 1948 when the A designation for attack planes was dropped. During the Korean conflict, both B-26B and C models saw active service. The A-26 underwent a major upgrade with refinements to wings, structure, power plant, increased horsepower, external weapons storage under wings, tip tanks for extended fuel load and loiter time, and was designated as the A-26K. In the mid-1960s, the A-26 and B-26 models saw action again in the Vietnam conflict. These aircraft were also sold to other nations for use in their air forces, converted into executive transports, firefighter water tankers, or preserved as museum pieces and warbirds for public display.
