These models are perfect for video animations and animation projects. The Douglas A-26B Invader was designed by the Douglas company in the 1940s to replace the A-20 and B-26 bombers. As a low-level attack and bomber platform, the A-26 featured 14 machine guns or combinations of guns and cannons, an internal bomb bay, and high speed capabilities. Produced in 1943, these aircraft saw extensive use during WWII. The A-26B models had a 'hard nose' with a navigator/gun loader in the forward cockpit and a gunner in the rear, equipped with eight machine guns. The A-26C model featured a clear nose with a navigator bombardier stationed inside. Machine guns remained in the wings for strafing capabilities. After WWII, these aircraft continued to serve with the USAAF and later the USAF, redesignated as B-26s in 1948 when the A designation was abandoned. During the Korean conflict, the B-26B and C models saw active service. In the late 1950s, the A-26 underwent a major upgrade with refinements to the wing, structure, power plant, increased horsepower, external weapons stores, tip tanks for increased fuel load, and combat loiter time. Designated as the A-26K, these upgrades saw active service in the Vietnam conflict. The A-26 and B-26 were also sold to other nations' air forces, used in civil aviation, converted into executive transports, firefighting water tankers, or preserved for museums and warbird displays.
