The Douglas A-26B, A-26C, B-26B, B-26C, and A-26K models by Dreamscape Studios are their latest high-value creations. These meticulously crafted models boast near-scale dimensions (within a couple of percent), feature fully painted textures with realistic mapping, and exhibit intricate details. Each model includes a single row radial engine for reduced poly count, detailed cockpits with seats, controls, instrumentation, rudder pedals, and step-down passages, animated propellers, moveable ailerons, elevators, flaps, inboard flaps, rudders, cowling flaps, landing gear retraction, and landing gear doors. Developed in 2016, these models are perfect for video animations and animation projects. The A-26B Invader, designed by Douglas in the early 1940s as a replacement for the A-20 and B-26 bombers, was a low-level attack and bomber aircraft with 14 machine guns or combinations of machine guns and cannons. Its internal bomb bay allowed it to carry substantial loads, making it a fast, reliable, and rugged aircraft. Produced in 1943, A-26B models featured a "hard nose" with a navigator/gun loader stationed in the forward cockpit and eight machine guns mounted in the nose for staffing, ground attack, and low to medium level bombing missions supporting ground troops. The A-26C model had a clear nose with the navigator-bombardier stationed inside, retaining wing-mounted machine guns for strafing capabilities. After WWII, these aircraft remained in frontline service under the USAAF and USAF until 1948 when they were redesignated B-26s. During the Korean conflict, the B-26B and C models saw active service. The A-26 underwent a major upgrade with refinements in wing, structure, power plant, increased horsepower, external weapons storage under wings, tip tanks for extended fuel load and loiter time, and were designated as A-26K. In the mid-1960s, the A-26s participated in active combat during the Vietnam conflict. The B-26 and A-26 aircraft were sold to various foreign air forces, while some were converted into executive transports or firefighter water tankers after their surplus sale. Some were also preserved for museum exhibits and as flying warbirds for public display.
