The Douglas A-26B, A-26C, B-26B, B-26C, and A-26K models by Dreamscape Studios are recent high-value releases. These meticulously crafted models boast near scale dimensions (within a couple of percent), are fully painted with realistic textures, and feature intricate details. They include geometrical radial engines, detailed cockpits and rear gunners positions, and animated features such as propellers, ailerons, elevators, flaps, rudder, cowling flaps, landing gear retraction, and landing gear doors. These models are suitable for video animations and make excellent animation subjects. The A-26B Invader was developed by Douglas in the 1940s as a low-level attack and bomber platform, replacing the A-20 and B-26. This aircraft boasted 14 machine guns or cannon combinations, an internal bomb bay, and impressive speed for its time. Produced from 1943, these planes saw action in WWII. The A-26B models had a 'hard nose' with a navigator/gun loader stationed in the forward cockpit, while the A-26C featured a clear nose with the navigator bombardier positioned inside. Both models were used for ground attack and supporting ground troops in low to medium level bombing missions. After the war, these aircraft remained active in USAAF and USAF frontline service until 1948 when they were redesignated as B-26s. During the Korean conflict, the B-26B and C models saw active service. The A-26 underwent a major upgrade with refinements in wing structure, power plant, external weapons storage, increased fuel load capacity, and loiter time. These upgraded models were designated as A-26K and served in the Vietnam conflict in the mid-1960s. Additionally, these aircraft were sold to other nations for their air forces or converted into civil use, executive transports, firefighter water tankers, or flying warbirds for public display in museums.
