The Douglas A-26B, A-26C, B-26B, B-26C, and A-26K models by Dreamscape Studios are their latest high-value creations. Built almost to scale in size, these models come fully painted with realistic textures and intricate details. They boast a single row radial engine for lower poly count and feature detailed cockpits, rear gunner positions, and in some cases, forward positions. The models also include animated features such as propellers, ailerons, elevators, flaps, rudder, cowling flaps, landing gear retraction, and landing gear doors. Developed by Douglas in the 1940s, the A-26B Invader was designed as a low-level attack and bomber aircraft with 14 machine guns or combinations of machine guns and cannons. It had an internal bomb bay for large bomb loads and was known for its speed, ruggedness, and reliability. These planes went into production in 1943 and saw extensive use during WWII. The A-26B models featured a 'hard nose' with a navigator/gun loader stationed in the forward cockpit alongside the pilot and rear gunner. The A-26C model had a clear nose, with the navigator bombardier positioned inside. Both models were used for staffing, ground attack, supporting ground troops during low to medium level bombing missions, and strafing. Post-war, these aircraft remained in frontline service under the USAAF and USAF until 1948 when they were redesignated as B-26s. During the Korean conflict, both the B-26B and C models saw active duty. In the mid-1950s, a major upgrade was made to the A-26K with improvements in wings, structure, power plant, increased horsepower, external weapon storage under the wings, tip tanks for extended fuel load and loiter time, and were redesignated as attack aircraft. The A-26 and B-26 models also found their way into foreign air forces, civil use, executive transports, firefighting water tankers, and as museum or warbird exhibits for public display.
