The Douglas A-26B, A-26C, B-26B, B-26C, and A-26K created by Dreamscape Studios represent their latest high-value models. With dimensions nearly to scale (within a couple of percent), these fully painted and textured models come with realistic maps and intricate details. They feature geometrically detailed radial engines, well-detailed cockpits, rear gunners positions, and in C models, forward positions. The cockpit includes seats, controls, instrumentation, rudder pedals, and a step-down passage. Animated propellers, moveable ailerons, elevators, flaps, inboard flaps, rudders, cowling flaps, landing gear retraction, and landing gear doors are also included. These models were newly built in 2016, making them excellent choices for video animations and animation models. The Douglas A-26B Invader was developed by the Douglas company during the early '40s as a replacement for the A-20 and B-26 bombers. Designed as a low-level attack and bomber platform, it boasted 14 machine guns or combinations of machine guns and cannons, an internal bomb bay, and the ability to deliver a large bomb load. The aircraft was fast, rugged, reliable, and went into production in 1943. A-26B models featured a "hard nose" with a navigator/gun loader stationed in the forward cockpit and a gunner in the rear, while eight machine guns were mounted in the nose for staffing, ground attack, and supporting low to medium-level bombing missions. The A-26C model had a clear nose with the navigator bombardier stationed inside. Machine guns remained in the wings, and strafing capabilities were also available. After WWII, these aircraft continued in frontline service under the USAAF and USAF until 1948 when they were redesignated B-26. During the Korean conflict, both B-26B and C saw extensive combat. In the late '50s and '60s, the A-26 underwent significant upgrades, including wing refinements, increased horsepower, external weapons storage, tip tanks for extended fuel load and loiter time, and were designated as A-26K. The A-26 and B-26 saw active service in Vietnam and were exported to other nations' air forces or converted into executive transports, firefighter water tankers, or museum/flying warbirds for public display.
