The Douglas A-26B, C, B-26B, C, and A-26K from Dreamscape Studios are their latest high-value models. These intricately designed models are built almost to scale, boasting full painting and texturing with realistic maps. They include a wealth of details such as geometrically detailed radial engines, cockpit components, rear gunner positions, and animated features like propellers, ailerons, elevators, flaps, rudder, cowling flaps, landing gear retraction, and landing gear doors. These models were completely rebuilt in 2016, making them perfect for video animation and other creative uses. The A-26B Invader was developed by Douglas in the early '40s as a replacement for the A-20 bombers and Martin B-26. Designed as a low-level attack and bomber platform, it featured 14 machine guns or combinations of machine guns and cannons, an internal bomb bay, and impressive speed, ruggedness, and reliability. Produced in 1943, A-26B models had 'hard nose' designs with a navigator/gun loader stationed in the forward cockpit and a gunner in the rear. Eight machine guns were mounted in the nose for staffing, ground attack, low to medium level bombing missions, and supporting ground troops. The A-26C model featured a clear nose with a navigator bombardier inside, retaining wing-mounted machine guns and strafing capabilities. After WWII, A-26s continued to serve in the USAAF and USAF until 1948 when they were redesignated B-26. During the Korean conflict, B-26B and C models saw active service. The A-26K underwent significant upgrades, including refinements in wing, structure, power plant, increased horsepower, external weapons storage, tip tanks for extended fuel load and loiter time, and were used in the Vietnam conflict. The B-26 and A-26 models were also sold to other nations for military use, while some were repurposed into executive transports, firefighter water tankers, or museum/warbird exhibits.
