I'm absolutely fascinated by the ESP8266 Double Wide Marquee Scroller News Weather Clock, but I wanted to put my own unique spin on things. Here's what I had in mind: 1. I envisioned mounting it on an elevated pole mount using OpenBeam parts. 2. I also decided against soldering directly to the display board. To make this vision a reality, I made some clever modifications to two key components from the original design. Firstly, I tweaked the center piece to accommodate an OpenBeam-compatible slot, allowing you to drop it onto the top of a 15x15 OpenBeam v-slot. I chose to leave the rest of the parts intact, preserving the angled base pieces so you can easily remove the clock from the pole and set it on your desk without reprinting everything. Secondly, I modified the right end piece by adding a hole that runs all the way through, providing ample space for connecting the LED board. The wires protruding slightly from the edge might not be as sleek as the original design, but I think they still add a cool touch to the overall aesthetic. I've also included an OpenBeam base in the photo, which I created earlier and found to work beautifully for this type of project.
