Double Weave

Double Weave

thingiverse

You're tasked with crafting a double weave design starting from a condensed, symmetrical shape known as the truncated icosahedron. This unique geometric structure has a limited number of polygons on its surface, offering ample opportunities for creative manipulation. Follow these steps to achieve your goal: 1. Begin by creating a 3D model of a truncated icosahedron in a software program such as Google Sketchup. As this is the free version, you won't have access to some premium features, but it's more than capable of handling this task. To move forward, consider the truncated icosahedron's defining characteristics – its 20 identically sized, regular hexagons and 12 five-sided polygons – also known as pentagons. These polygon combinations make up the shape's surface.
