Double Table Leg Cap
thingiverse
Protective Cap/Cover for a Steel Table Leg with Two Tubes Together This design covers the tip of 1" round table leg(s) with two joined tubes, perfect for mid-century modern tables from the 1950s. Each table leg is made up of two chrome tubes that are parallel and joined together, requiring a custom replacement cap to fit properly. The double-tube design makes it difficult to find standard replacement caps, so I created this design to replace damaged or missing ones. To see the ends of the table legs clearly, you may need to expand the photos full-screen. I had to dig out my old AutoCAD skills to create this design, as I'm more comfortable working with Revit. Here are the print settings used for this design: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 25% Notes: I used a 25% hexagon infill, but if I were to redesign this, I would experiment with making the floor solid or using higher infill. This design was created in AutoCAD using primitive 3D solids tools, specifically Cone and Cylinder. The .dwg CAD file is included, saved in ACAD 2016 format.
