Double Precision MXL X-Axis, Printrbot Simple V2
thingiverse
For Simple V2 w/o String Tension versions manufactured after October 23, 2013, Printrbot added a string tension device and altered mounting locations; hence, they won't align with this design. This upgrade guarantees high-quality parts with super smooth finishes. However, the maximum speed is limited to approximately 50mm/sec due to printrboard's step/sec limitations. Nonetheless, the Simple's posted limits are between 60-65. On a positive note, you can double your acceleration and XY jerk settings, which could reduce overall print time while maintaining quality. The motor mount plate, bearings, and tie bar are similar to those in the previous MXL X-Axis drive. The part number was updated on December 24, 2013, for a longer belt suitable for both X and Y upgrades. To achieve accurate belt length, secure temporarily the bearing holder for the 624 bearing, string the belt, mark its position through the tension block, then remove the 624 bearing holder to adjust for extra length folding the belt back over itself. The calibration values should ideally be around 210 steps per millimeter.
