Helix-like Pinion Device The double helical gear consists of a gear blank cut to have two separate spiral threadings in it, resulting in a symmetrical double-threaded device when used in conjunction with two corresponding helically-cut teeth on the driven wheel or output shaft. One threading serves as an input (the drive side) and can be cut from stock material, or built-up via welding onto a suitable blank with multiple, equally spaced pinion pins attached at its root. Both types can easily be used interchangeably for reverse application or repair operations where gear assembly time remains low regardless whether replacing one of the many component pairs used to manufacture double-helix units is part.
