Double Flower Iris Box
thingiverse
This is an updated version of my previous iris box design, the Flower Iris Box V2. This design features two layers of petals, with the upper layer attached to links and swinging open in the opposite direction to the lower main petals. To access the contents, simply twist the collar counterclockwise. Unlike some designs, this one doesn't require any supports (though they're recommended for added stability). This updated design was initially shared on MyMiniFactory in mid-2018 and has now been relocated here as well. If you're interested in exploring more iris boxes, I have a range of designs available on my Thingiverse page: https://www.thingiverse.com/BrienAllison/designs, including an earlier iteration of this design: Flower Iris Box V2 https://www.thingaverse.com/thing:3665797. You can also find other designs by visiting my MyMiniFactory page: https://www.myminifactory.com/users/Brien%20Allison. The standard size box measures approximately 80mm in height and diameter, with a 62mm container opening. A taller version is available, standing at around 190mm tall - ideal for storing pens or pencils. The part files are designed to accommodate M2x6 countersunk/flathead screws; 24 screws are needed in total to assemble the box. To use larger or smaller screws, simply scale up or down (e.g., M3x8 screws at 150% scale). Note that buying screws in bulk from a specialist supplier can save you money.
