Double-faced reliquary bust of a female saint
myminifactory
This sculpture presents a mysterious double-faced saint, with her hand clasped in supplication. The Janus-faced reliquary was designed to be viewed from multiple perspectives, perhaps carried in processions or displayed in a church gallery for the congregation below and those in second-story side aisles to behold. Relics were securely stored within its abdominal cavity, visible through intricately carved tracery.
