Double extruder mod Printrbot Simple Metal

This experiment seeks to mount two extruders side by side on the Printrbot simple Metal without any modification to the printer itself. To achieve maximum rigidity, print with as much infill as possible. While not strong enough for extensive or prolonged use, this setup is ideal for proof of concept and experimentation purposes. It is essential to ensure that the bottom surface is as flat and straight as possible. If a heated bed is unavailable, it is recommended to sand the bottom surface thoroughly if rafts are used, as its smoothness will significantly impact the alignment and parallelism of both extruders along with their orientation on the Y-axis. In some cases, shortening the shaft of one of the two motors may be necessary to accommodate them adequately. The original Printrbot fan shroud or any similar fan shroud designed for standard extruders will not fit due to the higher position of the hot ends by 5mm. Good luck with this project. Print Settings: Rafts: None Supports: None Post-Printing Instructions: Two extruders were installed face to face with a single fan positioned in between them. This marked the initial test of the dual extrusion mod after adjusting their position accordingly.
