Double Dovetail Puzzle with a twist
thingiverse
The double dovetail puzzle is a classic brain teaser that challenges intuition. It features two interlocking pieces with intricate dovetails, and I've added an internal twist for increased difficulty in disassembly. See the puzzle in action by watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djktBAgd2qU. This is my first brain teaser design, which requires two 1/2-inch marbles (STL provided). I've allowed a 1mm clearance in the marble slots and dovetails. Print it in PLA on a non-heated bed with 2 shells and 20% infill. Expect minor warping only on external faces, which can be easily sanded for smooth operation. The puzzle has a maximum of four steps to open, but features traps and dead-ends that add challenge without making it overly difficult; the solution can be found at http://wp.me/p3gI7M-2M. To assemble, insert each marble into its respective hole, hold the pieces with marbles between thumb and forefinger, slide them together starting at the arrowed corners, then try to disassemble it!
