It's still printing, but this is a blend of two intriguing models that combine functionality with creative flair. * The first model is found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4175573 and showcases an innovative design. * The second model is located at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2642086 and boasts a unique aesthetic. I'm currently attempting to print-in-place using my versatile multi-tool E3D Tool Changing printer (https://e3d-online.com/tc-ms), which allows me to switch between different printing tools seamlessly. For this project, I'm utilizing PLA for the main structure and water-soluble PVA for supports. The concept behind this experiment is that once it's printed, I can carefully remove it from the print-bed, soak it in hot water, and then manipulate its various parts to achieve the desired movement. Only time will tell if this theory holds up! Update: Just as the top part of the torid mechanism was starting to take shape, printing issues arose, forcing me to halt the process before completion. Undeterred, I submerged the entire structure in 2 gallons of hot water for a few hours to loosen the parts. Using needle-nose pliers, I carefully detached each ball, and then attached it to a sturdy board using screws. Finally, I gently spun the balls to further loosen them up, eager to see if my experiment will be successful.
