UPDATE 2015/11/17: Check out this new version with some cool features: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1138434 The Double Decker 175 is a miniature 180-class FPV racing quad that's easy to print and build, and an absolute blast to fly due to its tiny size and agility. This design aims to be one of the smallest frames capable of accommodating standard components like 1806 motors, CC3D atom flight controller boards, and full-size FPV cameras. Its standout feature is its dual-deck design - the front section is tall enough to accommodate a 32x32mm FPV camera like Sony's PZ0420, while the rear part is flat to keep the battery centered for improved flight performance. The rear section houses the CC3D atom flight controller (sans plastic cover) and features an embedded bottom plate for added protection. A space is provided behind the FC for a VTX unit - preferably one like TS5823. My build had room to accommodate X4RSB receivers on top of the FC and VTX. This frame was also designed with motor and VTX antenna protection in mind. The FPV camera plate features a fixed 20-degree angle, but this can be tweaked using spacers between the plate and camera. Additionally, lightweight sidewalls are incorporated to shield all cables. With an ABS print featuring 100% infill, the frame is also incredibly durable and will withstand multiple crashes. As printed with 70-gram weight (ABS, 100% infill, M2.5 self-tapping screws), AUW with FPV gear and a 3S lipo battery at 330 grams is achievable. Here's my recommended setup: motors: 4x 1806 motors or similar ESCs: ZTW Spider 18A ESCs (or similar size) flight controller: CC3D Atom flight control propeller: DAL 4045 BN propellers (or similar) battery: 850-1300 mAh 3S-4S lipo battery FPV camera: Sony PZ0420 video TX: TS5823 video transmitters at 200mW software: firmware: BLHeli14.1 for ESCs with Damped Light mode + Oneshot125 Cleanflight Luxfloat PID settings: roll/pitch: 2.5, 0.040, 30 yaw: 8, 0.040, 5 looptime: 1600 This configuration on a 4S lipo provides amazing flight performance with incredible power-to-weight ratio. Have fun!
