The plan hinges on swapping out the threaded rod and nuts with a sturdy 8mm diameter axle paired with custom-fitted tips that match the size of the spool holder. To make this versatile, two central double-bearing hubs and specialized adapters can be used to accommodate nearly all brands of filament spools. For these central hubs, I opt for 608ZZ bearings – the same ones used in rollers and skateboards. The axle and tips are precision-engineered to work seamlessly with WEASY spool stands, while the adapters have been tailored specifically for Colorfabb, Neofil, SOVB, and Esun spools.
