Inspired by an old contraption from the 1930s, as seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaAHiiCnteY I got hooked on the dotted line tool when I noticed it was made up of a few simple 3D printed pieces. I decided to give it a try and see what I could do with it. This tool has come a long way since my first attempt, but there's definitely room for improvement. I can already think of a more efficient mechanism for this tool and I'm excited to see what someone else comes up with. The tool itself is designed for permanent assembly using machine screws, but you can also use it without them if that's your preference. The gear is interchangeable, which adds to its versatility. When printing the pen grip, make sure to do it vertically, while the rest of the arm should be printed flat on the bed. This ensures both components are smooth and strong when they're put together. One thing I noticed was that the drive wheel had trouble gripping the table. To fix this, I applied a thin layer of hot glue around the edge for extra grip.
