Dota 2 Rubick with Cosmetics
thingiverse
This is a model of Rubick from Dota 2 that features my friend's requests for cosmetic items. I'm pushing really hard to print it with a dual extrusion printer, separating out the mesh based on color textures as I go. So far, only Photoshop has managed this feat, but its dual extrusion printing capabilities seem broken. If you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear them! UPDATE: I've successfully extracted both the resized Rubic model so you can use it at the exact scale I printed it in. Also, I've removed the supports I used during printing. You'll probably find it difficult to take them off with a different slicer as they will behave like real models, not supports, but you won't miss any. I believe this is the correct model and there are no issues with it. If you have any difficulties while slicing or printing, let me know. Many thanks to DeltaMaker, Simplify3D, and Netfabb for sponsoring Deis3D, Brandeis 3D Printing Club, where I learned how to design and print awesome models. These companies were very supportive and gave me access to their materials/software that helped me create this model. It's all part of a larger project at Brandeis University's MakerLab. Print Settings: Rafts: Don't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 10% Notes: Sliced with Simplify3D I used Deltamaker Light Green PLA filament during printing on a Makerbot Replicator 2. The settings I used were as follows: Print speed: 90mm/s Travel speed: 150mm/s Temperature: 230°C Design Process: I did not create this model; it's actually a derivative work based on Valve's models from the Dota 2 Workshop. I take no credit for its design, but rather provide access to the steps I took to make it printable. If you're interested in learning how to get these models, check out the Dota 2 Workshop where you can download the stock files. Currently, getting files out of Dota 2 is not possible due to a file format change introduced with Source 2 engine that locks all the models inside. Therefore, I won't be creating any more Dota models in the near future. My other game models were designed using Blender, repaired using Netfabb software and sliced with Simplify3D software before being printed in Brandeis University's MakerLab as part of Deis3D (the 3D printing club at Brandeis University).
