Dosing Cup Insert for Baratza Encore Grinder (featuring Crema 54mm Dosing Cup)

I've found the Baratza Encore to be a reasonable grinder for espresso. It's not as accurate or repeatable as the more expensive grinders, but at a setting of 6-9 it does a decent job and when paired with an affordable Breville machine you can make damn good shots for a fraction of the cost. One nice upgrade I've done is to buy a 53mm dosing cup from the perfectionists at Crema. Awesome quality, and the adapter part here is used to snap the cup into place and grind directly in (as opposed to grinding into the Baratza insert. This allows me to single dose the coffee and I get +/- 0.1g as measured by my Acaia Lunar scale. (You get a few grounds from time to time that fall down, hence the little funnel to brush them off onto a hand towel.) This is a single printed part that just friction fits into the place where the original Baratza catch system normally sits. The Crema cup snaps easily in/out of place and keeps it right under the outlet port for the grinder. No mess. I'm running a bottomless (naked) portafilter from Crema as well, and I get very little channeling. It's a perfect way to dial in your shots and get an experience for way under $1,000 that is way beyond any automatic machine. I've also included an earlier design with a printed cup. While PLA is probably okay for espresso grinds, I recommend finishing the cup with an epoxy to make it truly food safe.
