Dosimeter - Fallout 4
thingiverse
So I discovered this awesome meter over at myminifactory (https://www.myminifactory.com/en/object/3d-print-fallout-4-rad-meter-60730) and encountered some issues with its design, so I utilized Fusion360 to rebuild 90% of the parts. The tower / tube now accepts a metal mesh into it, whichever one you prefer to insert there. First, paint it, then insert the mesh and glue it in, then glue the bottom to the top. The files should be printed: Case: supports on everywhere Lenscover: 100% infill Clips x4: supports on / brim / 100% infill Tower: supports on everywhere Backclip: brim / 100% infill / no supports Switch: supports on StickerCover: supports on If you plan to install electronics in the case, please make the Backclip out of metal. You can either do this with the LostPLA method or bend a sheet of metal. After printing you need to drill holes in the case for the backdoor. Just insert the door on the back of the case and then drill the four holes. I think 2mm screws should work fine. For the front you can use 3mm screws. The lens for the cover needs to be 38-38.4mm in diameter and 2-3mm thick. It should fit right in. The cover has a 37mm diameter on top, so it doesn't fall through. If it doesn't press fit, just glue it in the cover, but just some tiny spots of glue so they can't be seen from outside. Might use clear epoxy for that. For the Backclip, you can either glue it in after painting, or you use the Backclip Holes file to mount it with 2x M2x10mm Screws (you need washers and nuts inside the case then). That way you have access to the inside if needed. The switch hole is 11mm in diameter. You should print the scale sticker also at 38.4mm diameter. UPDATE 09.08.2019: I made a cover for the scale, called StickerCover. You can print this from 0.1 to 0.2mm layer height and with supports on. It is just a simple holder for the scale sticker and has the same diameter on front. I tested it and it fits right in the lenscover from behind the case, you just need to add a little glue after you have it in the right position. UPDATE 08.08.2019: I reinforced the backclip and replaced it. The plate which mounts onto the top of the case was too thin, so I thickened it a bit. UPDATE 31.07.2019: After searching for a switch, I only found heavy and big ones, so I decided to design one. The switch should be printed at 0.1mm layer height and with support on.
