Dorothy Arzner was a director in Hollywood from 1927-1943. The only female director in Hollywood during her tenure. When given her first directing job, she was presented with a red "Director's Megaphone" for directing talent. She upgraded it by putting a mask in the front and turning it into a director's finder as well. This design is inspired by that simple and elegant innovation. It is certainly not an exact replica, nor does it intend to be. It does however do largely the same thing. It works as a handheld megaphone and as a director's finder. This version is designed to show 50mm in either silent gate or super 35 gate. I printed it in burgundy, but perhaps an even more accurate color would be a dark red. changelog March 5 2021: modified neck slightly, and modified mask to more accurately reflect 50mm. March 7, 2021 modified this to hold all the variants: One accurately represents 50mm silent gate at 4X3 One accurately represents 50mm Super35 gate at 4X3 One Accurately Represents 50mm Super 35 gate at 4X3 and 16X19 March 9, 2021: Added one for 50mm 4X3 Academy gate
