Doorbell Cover
thingiverse
I replaced the old doorbell cover that came with the house, a relic from the 80's that was ugly, cracked, and showed its age. I created a new drop-in replacement in two parts: a face plate and the main body. The face plate simply slides into the back of the body, secured by some CA glue for added stability. I designed my custom doorbell cover to be durable and long-lasting. I chose to print the main body with colorFabb woodfill filament because it sands well, has the perfect texture and tone, and can take stains reasonably well for a realistic faux-wood finish. To enhance the appearance of the face plate, I applied some maple gel stain before installing it into the body. The print settings are straightforward: both pieces print without supports and can be printed with ease.
