Door Viewer Hook
prusaprinters

A hook for hanging things such as Christmas wreaths, Halloween decorations or other seasonal items on a front door.

The hook is mounted using the same hole as the door viewer (peephole) and does not require any screws, nails, staples or anything else that would require making holes or otherwise damaging the door.

It is suitable for apartments, flats, condominiums, etc., where landlords or condo boards do not allow making holes in the door, or for those occasions where you just want to hang something on the door temporarily and not leave lasting damage.

To mount the hook unscrew the viewer from the inside, pull the outer part out of the door, slip it through the hook, then fit it back through the door and screw the inner part back on.

The hook is available in several variants to suit viewers with different diameters. Choose the hole size that matches your viewer's barrel diameter - this is the size of the existing hole in your door. Many common viewers use a 14mm hole but they do vary, so measure yours before printing. The hook adds only 2mm to the effective thickness of the door. The barrels of most viewers can easily cope with this additional thickness.

The hook looks good printed in plain white or black, or a colour that matches the door. Wood-filled PLA also looks nice with a wooden door.

Notes:

No supports are needed and a standard layer height around 0.2mm is fine. Use a decent amount of infill for strength; 25% to 40% should be good.

Originally published on Thingiverse in January 2017 as https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2056244

Category: Household
