Door Prop for Pets
thingiverse
I created this solution to keep my pets safe by preventing doors from closing completely in certain rooms of my house. This approach was far more effective than using items on the floor between the door and wall, and it outperformed other available options. This invention works with doors that swing either direction and can hold them open reliably from about 2 inches to 80 degrees. The standard size is tailored for my home's doors but can be scaled up or down to fit different door sizes. My design is optimized for doors approximately 34.5 mm thick, although doors within a millimeter or two of that measurement may also work without adjustments. I used a small piece of black foam as a bumper against the door frame to provide a soft and secure closing point. I have since updated this design to V2, which features improved aesthetics and added reinforcement for greater stability. The new version includes both a tilted model for angled door frames and a flat model for use with flat farm-style door frames or similar designs.
