My initial attempt at a door-holding mechanism performed flawlessly, but it suffered from one major drawback: whenever I applied significant force to push the door open, it would spring back with considerable vigor. Fortunately, this revised model has addressed that issue, and now the door swings wide without bouncing back as forcefully. The OpenSCAD source code for this design is readily available.
