I crafted a homemade dog box door latch for my car, although I didn't use it, I want to share for others to benefit. For installation, print the latch at any desired infill. Insert two 8mm rods (82mm length) into the latch holes and add two suitable springs over the rods; not too strong to prevent movement but firm enough to avoid self-opening. Assemble within the housing and attach the housing to your door, allowing for a bi-directional opening by simply cutting an appropriate hole in the door.
