Door knob surround
thingiverse
I recently had to replace the front door lock on my aluminium framed door. Once I removed the old lock, I discovered a large internal barrel that housed the mechanism. The mechanism converts rotational force into a horizontal force used to draw the bolt open. However, when I went shopping for a replacement, I found that this type of lock is outdated. Instead, modern locks have three posts: two screw posts and one central post keyed to twist the bolt mechanism. This draws the bolt open. The problem was that I had a huge round hole in the door with almost nothing to put into it. I needed a way to stop the door knobs from slopping around. In the end, I determined that if I made a ring for the door knob escutcheon to bed into and it keyed into the hole in the door, there would be no slop. This is exactly what I ended up with. This is another one of my "useful only to me" ideas. But if anyone else finds it useful, feel free to use it.
