I wanted to improve the porter cable tool on the market by making it more versatile and efficient. First, I created a 3D printed template that is incredibly cost-effective. By printing three of these templates and attaching them together with a piece of wood, I achieved perfect spacing between hinges. However, the original tool has one major flaw: it's fixed to the door with nails or screws, leaving unsightly holes behind. To overcome this issue, I designed a clamp system that securely fastens the tool to either the door or the door frame. This clamp system utilizes 1/4-20 bolts and nuts for added stability. With its adjustable design, users can position it anywhere on the door or door frame, providing maximum flexibility. To complete my project, I needed a specific router bit. After conducting research, I found that this tool requires a specialized bit that fits the bill perfectly.
