Door handle keyhole cover

Door handle keyhole cover

I recently encountered a rather drafty front door keyhole and since the house is only rented, I didn't want to drill into the existing handle, so I measured up and designed this custom cover to fit over the handle with a secure keyhole cover. To assemble it, I removed the door handle plate, released the spring at the back, and took out the handle. Then, I slipped the printed cover over the plate and reattached the handle. After discovering that the hole was slightly off-center, I simply filed it to fit snugly. The Keyhole cover easily attached with a short nut and bolt. Finally, I fixed the handle back onto the door using the original screws through the printed cover and door plate holes, just as it was originally. I 3D printed it in ABS but PLA will also work fine. It's best to print face down. To give it a finished look, I painted it with brass-colored paint. Feel free to customize this design to fit your own unique door handle.
