door handle filler plug

door handle filler plug

thingiverse

A plug designed to fit snugly into an unused hole in a door, where a deadbolt or handle may typically reside. The model's dimensions are substantially undersized (a conversion error from centimeters to millimeters during STL export is to blame). To achieve a standard hole size (~2-1/8"), simply scale the design up by a factor of 10. Alternatively, reduce the dimensions in both the X and Y axes to accommodate different hole sizes (for instance, scaling approximately 7.05x will result in a fit for the smaller ~1.5" hole). Adding some insulation within the male side of the plug is also a good idea. The design allows for printing either side of the assembly, enabling users to match their door's color scheme - including wood PLA which can be stained to perfectly match the door's hue. This plastic part has taken the place of a metal door filler plate that was prone to frosting up during the cold Canadian winters due to the conductive properties of the metal screw passing through its center.
