People want a customizable door handle to 3D print at home. The challenge is to design something that is both functional and visually appealing, but also requires minimal resources during the printing process. To start with, one has to think about how you're going to hold the door open when your hands are full. This led us to experiment with several possible handles including a circular loop that doubles as an automatic lock release, an oblong shape which provides extra leverage for turning and lifting heavy doors, or a T-handle, resembling the classic lever often found on barn doors.
