Doomhammer

It is known as Doomhammer, for when its wielder takes it into battle, doom is dealt to the enemy. The last of the Doomhammer line will use it to bring salvation and then doom to the orcish people. It will then pass into the hands of one who is not a member of the Blackrock clan, and all will change once more, as it will be used again in the cause of justice. The legendary Doomhammer appears to be a fitting final item for my series of Warcraft-related PETG printables at least for now. The design was created by combining features from numerous fan-art pictures as well as short cinematic scenes in the game Warcraft III. I endeavored to make it as easily printable as possible while still maintaining its original appearance. This was the most challenging of the three Warcraft items I have printed over the past weeks; not due to the printing process itself, but rather the post-processing required to achieve a "granite stone" look on certain parts and a gradient glow across the entire hammer head. It would have been easier with lighter blue PETG, but the one I ordered turned out to be quite dark, resulting in a dim glow even with pure white LED's compared to the other two items I made previously. Another option would be to use colorless PETG and blue LED's, which I believe would have been a simpler approach. The hammer head was printed from blue PETG, while the rest of the parts were made from PLA. Post-processing and details were achieved with Citadel miniature paints and melting the surface with a soldering iron to create a "chiseled stone" texture. The handle also features fake-leather strips wrapped around it.
